Welcome to 204100, Information Technology and Modern Life (section 701) Make sure to check back at this page regularly for announcements and important news. Please also subscribe to the facebook group of this class for a more real-time channel of communications.

Announcement

  • This class will be conducted online. There will be live lecture session on schedule time, then the lectures will be recorded for later view.
  • Class materials and coursework will be distributed primarily on MS Team's class Team. Make sure to check it (and other class's Team) often.
  • Students need to attend both midterm examination and final examination to be considered for passing grade. There is no rescheduling for exam unless in case of emergency.
  • Please submit your classwork by the deadline. Classwork submitted after the deadline may not be credited.

Regarding Final Examination

  • The final examination will be online, on Monday, March 22nd, 4:00PM-5:30PM
  • You need to log into the system no later than 4:15PM, and need to stay on at least until 4:30PM
  • We will, again, be using Exam Moodle (https://exam.cmu.ac.th/). Make sure you can log in using your CMU account
  • Team meeting will also be available
  • The exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions
  • If you cannot access Exam Moodle, you may need a VPN
  • The final exam will be at 204100 - IT & Modern Life SEC701[2/63] → Final Exam (March 22nd, 2021. 4:00PM-5:30PM) → Final Exam
  • The exam will be open-book, but you need to do the exam on your own. No chatting/messaging between students!

  • Information Literacy

What you should do…

  • Get Team app for your phone
  • Find the most stable internet connection for the exam. This might be your phone
  • Prioritize connecting to exam. If your internet is really poor, don’t connect to Team meeting, and just message me on Team app
  • If you are abroad, a VPN might be needed

What if…

  • The teacher loses connection → You can continue with the exam
  • The exam server is out → The exam will be rescheduled
  • You lose power or you lose connection for a long time → Contact the instructor ASAP
  • You have other emergency → Also contact the instructor ASAP

Grading

The course grade will be calculated as follows:

  • Classworks 40%.
  • Midterm Exam: 30%.
  • Final Exam 30%.
  • Exams will be multiple choice and online

Assignment Submission

All assignments will be issued on MS Team. Students can submit through MS Team as well.

If you have a valid reason that you cannot submit the work on time, please let me know in advance or provide me with letters from your department.

Collaboration and Cheating

For homework assignment, students are allowed to discuss the assignments and/or get help from other students. In such circumstance, however, students are required to write down the name of the person the discussion has been made with. Also, each student must write down the answers in his/her own words. Assignment copying is considered cheating and will be penalized accordingly.

Assignment Due Date and Late Policy

Students should try their best to submit the assignment by the due date. If an emergency comes up, student should contact the instructor as soon as possible. Repeated late submission may affect the student's assignment credit.
